Gauging Adolescent Minecraft Engagement (G.A.M.E.) Study
We are currently recruiting families for a study of young adolescents’ social interactions as they engage with a peer while playing a video game. In this study, we hope to compare adolescents' social interactions in a virtual versus an in-person setting. We will explore the nature young adolescents’ (ages 11-14 years; entering or enrolled in the 7th or 8th grade) social interactions with an unfamiliar same-age, same sex peer. Your child will be observed while playing the online game Minecraft. In addition, your child will be asked to complete a number of questionnaires. The lab visit for this study will last approximately 2 hours, and families will be compensated $20 and reimbursed for any transportation costs.
Please note that Minecraft experience is not a necessity; your child will be “matched” with a peer who has a similar level of experience with this virtual game.
